The Battle of the Books Literary Club is designed to encourage fourth and fifth students to read as much as possible in their leisure time, to read quality books, and to read for information as well as pleasure.

The Battle of the Books Club is sponsored by MRC Directors and teachers in each elementary school in District 181.  Each school selects a team to represent the school at a final battle between the District 181 schools and to select a District champion for the year.  A traveling plaque is engraved with the school’s name and resides at the winning school until the next final battle.  The District Battle is co-sponsored by the Hinsdale Public Library and the Clarendon Hills Public Library.
